Documentarian-conservationist Rob Stewart, famous for the 2008 feature doc "Sharkwater", was found dead off the coast of Islamorada in the Florida Keys by divers. He was 37.

The Canadian director went absconding on January 31 when he went for a deep-water dive near the Alligator Reef, reported Deadline.

The filmmaker was accompanied by a group of divers to shoot the follow-up film to "Sharkwater" when he went missing after briefly resurfacing and possibly drowning away.

Captain Jeffrey Janszen, commander of US Coast Guard Sector Key West confirmed that Stewart's body was recovered by a Key Largo Volunteer Fire Department dive team.
