Bollywood's Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan completed five years of blogging with April 17, 2013, being his 1828th day on the blog. Big B, who is active on social networking sites, had forgotten about the anniversary, but was reminded of it by his fans. He took to Twitter to thank his extended family for reminding him about the date.

Overwhelmed with the love from his fans, Big B wrote on his blog, “Now that you remind me of the anniversary, a day even I fail to remember, I am simply amazed at the most intricate and valuable information that has come through these posts... on matters personal, on matters of conflict, on matters of worldly wisdom, of care and consideration for the other, of the connections made with unknowns, of bondings, friendships that never existed but do now with a flourish, our concerns for each other, our greetings to those, oceans and worlds apart, of discovering incredible talent … all through the medium of a few words ???”

The megastar, an active blogger, has on several occasions taken to the medium to pour his heart out. Here are some occasions when his blog made headlines.

On January 13, 2009, Bachchan wrote on his blog that in another part of his blog there were "comments for the film Slumdog Millionaire which, as he noted, indicated "anger by some on its contents."

He further wrote that "if SM projects India as Third World dirty under belly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky under belly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations."

Bachchan also wrote: "It's just that the SM idea authored by an Indian and conceived and cinematically put together by a Westerner, gets creative Globe recognition. The other would perhaps not."

These remarks were widely reported on by the press in India and abroad as a criticism of the film. After sparking a controversy with his comments, Bachchan had spoken to the film’s director Danny Boyle to explain how his remarks were blown out of proportion by the media.

Another such ocassion was when the 70-year-old defended daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who had come under harsh criticism for her weight gain after giving birth to daughter, Aaradhya.

The megastar on his blog wrote that he is amazed by the worldwide interest in celebrity lifestyle. "Good issues do not create interesting programming, the sensational does, not just here in our country, but all over the world," Bachchan wrote on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

"Celebrity interest is not just an Indian phenomenon, it is worldwide too. If you are celebrity, this is the cross you shall perforce have to carry with a smile. Do no wrong and you shall be safe, but be prepared for the worst even when a small wrong has been done."

"Celebrities are not some outer world aliens; they are as human as you and me. Mistakes and errors will be made and shall be highlighted. The courage and strength to continuously face it, is what counts. Some do a marvelous job, others succumb. Some make light of it, others get affected," he added.

In a recent blog post, the actor epressed his happiness at Pran receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award. Reminiscing his days with the actor, Bachchan wrote, “A gentleman to the core, who had great respect for his colleagues, and an immense attitude to professional behaviour. Never late on the sets, despite the heavy make up that he invariably had to indulge in. Never ever interfered with the work in progress, and surprisingly there were many occasions when he never saw the films he worked in. Many a time he would call or speak to me about a film that we had done together, months and years later after its release !!”

Amitabh's blog was first created on bigb.bigadda.com, but it is now available on srbachchan.tumblr.com.
