For actor Shahana Goswami, fitness and healthy living are a way of life, not  habits. The actor believes in holistic living, not just exercising or dieting. Ask what fitness means to her and she quips, “It is about feeling healthy, feeling strong from the inside and glowing on the outside. It is also about having a fresh mind and an energised body. I think each body is different and you need to figure out what is best for your body. Listening to your body and adjusting to it is what everyone should constantly try to achieve.”

Talking about her fitness regime, she says she doesn’t like going to the gym and indulging in strenuous workouts. Outdoors is where she prefers to exercise. Given a choice, she’d chose to play a sport than workout in the gym. “I like to do yoga and functional training (using your own body weight for strengthening your muscles). I try to do cardio for an hour three times a week at least, besides cycling and walking. I am more of an outdoor person. I like to be out in the fresh air, not doing something static in the gym. I love trekking, playing a sport, brisk walks, cycling, swimming, etc. I try to exercise four-five times a week.” Shahana also reveals that she has recently taken to cycling as her way to fitness, something she says she has always been fascinated with. “I used to cycle as a kid and I’ve always enjoyed it. It’s also great exercise so I thought why not substitute running with cycling since I’m not a very fond of running!”

Though the actor is a huge fan of being fit, she does not endorse dieting or avoiding any particular type of food. “I don’t like to have any dietary constraints. I feel for me what works best, is to keep my life physically active and eat the right quantity at the right time intervals, to sleep well, drink enough water and be in a happy frame of mind.”
