Shah Rukh Khan to romance Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in 'Raees'

After Sonam Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's names were floating as the probable contenders to becoming the next Shah Rukh Khan heroine, it seems Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has been roped in to play the leading lady for SRK's next film - Raees.

The Rahul Dholakia film will be backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's production house and will revolve around the life of a Gujarati bootlegger. While Farhan was supposed to play the second lead, essaying the role of a cop, it is now confirmed that Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been roped in to play the role. Hugely anticipated and one of the most awaited SRK films, it would be nice to see SRK romance the Pakistani actress on screen.

Mahira, who is also a VJ has her own talk show in Pakistan and has received a lot of critical acclaim for her performance in Bol which also starred Raja Natwarlal heroine Humaima Malik. Recently, she hit the Indian screens with her television serial Humsafar bringing in huge TRPs. Just like actor Fawad Khan, Mahira too has begun taking baby steps in Bollywood now.

With a debut opposite King Khan himself, it definitely could not have been a better way to start her Bollywood career. All that needs to be seen is how the new pair look together on screen. The film is tentatively supposed to go on floors in February next year and the team plans to wrap the shoot by June next year.
