Prepare for exciting guest appearances this year
Updated : Mar 10, 2017, 06:10 AM IST
2016 had a few cameos that were much talked about. Shah Rukh Khan had the audiences cheering for him in theatres during his five-minute scene in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Not to forget Lisa Haydon’s bimbette act in the same film that got us guffawing.
As the year wears on, expect far more exciting cameos. Don’t believe us? Check our list... 2017 certainly seems to be the year of cameos...
People have been waiting for decades to see the two Khans sharing screen space. Finally, it will be the Karan Arjun moment that all Shah Rukh and Salman Khan fans have been waiting for. SRK plays a conjurer, a magician in Kabir Khan’s directorial venture and his cameo comes at a very interesting juncture which changes the direction of Salman’s character in the film. Rather, he shows him the correct path. We’re excited.
Salman’s double role act had everyone rooting for him in 1997. Twenty years later, Varun Dhawan steps into his shoes. But Salman, too, has promised to make an entry in the film. While some say he will play a godfather and some say he’s a gangster, we have heard that he will be playing the older Raja and Prem. Wow!
Remember Taapsee Pannu’s daredevil act in Baby? Akshay Kumar, who believes in women’s safety and conducts defence lessons for women in his academy, gave Neeraj Pandey the idea for a prequel to Baby. Titled Naam Shabana, it will chronicle Taapsee’s journey to becoming the Shabana she was in Baby. Akki has also played a brilliant guest role in the film and we simply can’t wait to see it.
After SRK in Dear Zindagi (the role was anything but a cameo) we are hoping Aamir Khan won’t just have a special appearance in his manager Advait Chavan’s next Secret Superstar. The film — a story about dreams and aspirations — will have Aamir playing mentor to his Dangal kid Zaira Wasim, who wants to be a singer.
Ranbir Kapoor has already started shooting for the Dutt biopic. And the movie will have some brilliant cameos. Like Sonam Kapoor, who is tentatively cast as Sanjay Dutt’s love interest in his formative years. Now, it’s still not known if she will be playing a character modelled on Madhuri, but one thing is for sure. Sonam had stunned in Delhi-6 and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag with her short roles. Expect firecrackers from this one, too!
Not many know that Deepika, who has not had a Bollywood release for over a year now, will be seen in another film before Padmavati. Yes, she has shot an item number — a reworked version of the famous Agent Vinod song Raabta — for the Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer. We’re already kicked!
Talk of firecrackers and you have another fiery appearance in the Dutt biopic. That of Anushka Sharma. The actress, who’s great friends with Ranbir and Rajkumar Hirani, didn’t have to think before saying yes to her role. She plays a lawyer in the biopic and is shooting for the film now.
