Seven-times National Award winning Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu accused of sexual harassment

After the sexual harassment allegations rocked the Bollywood world, stories are still coming out and developing, the #MeToo movement has now hit Tamil film industry. An accuser has come forward  alleging that seven-time National Award winning lyricist Vairamuthu harassed her.

Journalist Sandhya Menon, who has been collating responses to her #MeToo thread on Twitter, posted a screenshot of a conversation on her account on Tuesday.

In the screenshot, this anonymous person chronicled their ordeal at the hands of Tamil lyricist. Hours after this allegation came out, another accuser has come forward.


The story was retweeted and corroborated by singer and voice artist Chinmayi.

In a report by Cinemaexpress, the singer said that the lyricist is a predator. "He is a serial predator. This has happened to multiple people," she said.

After Chinmayi's support, a lot of other accusers are coming forward. 

Vairamuthu has not made a comment about these allegations as opposed to the statements issued by the likes of Nana Patekar, Alok Nath and others in the Hindi film industry.

The #MeToo movement has reached India and it's kicking up a storm.
