SEE PICS: Priyanka Chopra rules MET Gala 2017 red carpet, Deepika Padukone fails to impress

First Monday of May is a big night in the fashion world as the A-listers make their way to Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala or commonly known as the MET Gala. 

This year the MET museum is exhibiting the work of Japanese Avant-Garde designer Rei Kawakubo and her label Comme des Garçons. Naturally, the theme for the gala was inspired by Kawakubo's designs over the years.

Desi girl Priyanka Chopra made the heads turn in the crowd of who's who of fashionista and the designers. Wearing an extravagant golden trench dress by Ralph Lauren, PC cemented her place on the global map of fashion.

Taking cues from Comme des Garçons beauty looks over the years, the Quantico star made most of her dusky skin-tone. Smokey eyes, accentuated cheekbones were accompanied by dark coffee lips.

Her arm candy of the night was singer Nick Jonas and the duo was part of Ralph Lauren's fashion squad comprising of Michael B Jordan, Lily Aldridge, Rose Byrne, Armie Hammer and wife Elizabeth.

The other Bollywood beauty, Deepika Padukone was also there. As a guest of designer Tommy Hilfiger, XXX star donned a cream colour column dress from his collection. Compared to PC, Deepika's outfit fails to impress.

Deepika was part of Hilfiger squad. It included the stunning Gigi Hadid. So the question of why so many misses in so few red carpet hits for Deepika remains unanswered.

Another international red carpet is coming Deepika's way with Cannes 2017 appearance for L'Oreal. Would be interesting to see how Deepika will fare against Sonam and Aishwarya.

For now, Priyanka Chopra is numero uno.
