June 5 is celebrated as World Environment Day to raise global awareness, take positive environmental action and protect Mother Nature. While these TV actors may not be part of any organisation that works towards a clean and green nature, they are in their own small way contributing to saving our surroundings. As Rashami Desai says, “Just being conscious about the environment is not enough, we all have to contribute towards it.”

Amruta Khanvilkar

I will be a part of this organisation that is planning to plan around two crore trees across India and nine lakh in Pune itself. Pune has always been known for its greenery, but over the last 10 years, a lot of commercialisation has taken place and too many buildings have come up. As a result, the city has lost its greenery. I am so glad that somebody has come forward with this initiative as greenery  has been the beauty of the city. Being a Punekar, I want to do my best to retain it as the city is still known for its cool climate. A lot of my friends from the Marathi industry are involved in it and we will start this initiative from July 1. Through this, we will be spreading awareness among people. Also, it doesn't just end with planting the saplings, we will be involved in taking care of its survival, too.

Karan Tacker

There’s something I live by to save the environment and that is to not waste paper. People have the habit of using tissue papers a lot — in public bathrooms, for throwing chewing gums, while driving, etc. I would urge them to reduce the use of tissue papers as a lot of trees are cut to create paper. Wasting water while brushing teeth or showering is not cool. When you shower at least 15-30 litres of water is required per person, instead if you use the water from the bucket only five-six litres is used. A lot of water is also wasted when you use the flush in the toilet. In the flush tanks that have a dual system, one valve has six litres water and another three litres, but people always use the bigger one leading to a lot of wastage. People should consciously avoid that.

There are some things I follow religiously at home. I conserve electricity by using LED lights. I also see a lot of water being wasted when we brush our teeth or take a shower because we tend to keep the taps open. I consciously close the tap while doing these things and save water. It is the need of the hour. For daily purposes, I use jute bags and avoid carrying plastic bags. Also, while giving my clothes for laundry or dry cleaning I always use cloth bags.

Ravi Dubey

I don’t use plastic bags at all. I see plastic bags thrown on roads or in the garbage, which animals end up eating severely affecting their health. Also, to keep the environment green, I plant small saplings on every occasion in my building. In my house also I have potted plants. I don’t smoke and I don’t allow smoking at my premises.

Divyanka Tripathi

As we are getting married soon, both my fiancé (Vivek Dahiya) and I are on a shopping spree. But we are very particular about not taking any polythene bags from the vendor. We make it a point to carry our own cloth bags from home.

Arjun Bijlani

Several people don’t service their cars regularly and the vehicles emit a lot of black smoke which harms the environment, so I am particular about getting my car serviced regularly.

Ssharad Malhotraa

I ensure that all the garbage wet and dry is separated before throwing it. Clean air and clean water is a necessity everywhere. Environmental consciousness should be the way of life. I am very particular about hygiene in my home as well as on the set. No one can litter in front of me, I object if I notice someone throwing it.
