Everyone has been eagerly awaiting the return of the quirky Sarabhai family and today the first episode of the web series has been launched. The good thing about it is that all the family members continue to be true to their peculiar characteristics. Maya Sarabhai is still sarcastic and looks down upon the middle-class mentality. Monisha, on the other hand, has become even more penny wise- pound foolish, if possible. And, of course, Roshesh droll poems are still senseless and funny.

New family members have been added in the form of Sahil and Monisha's son Arnabh, whom Monisha lovingly calls Guddu and puts Maya on the edge. "How North Indian Punjabi middle-class mentality. Call him Arnabh," she exclaims.

Dushyant's wife Sonia was already there in the first season - she was played by two actresses and now Aishwarya Sakhuja is essaying the role. While Dushyant is scientific to the 'T', Sonia gets 'paranormal psychic attacks'.

Roshesh gets a girlfriend Jasmine and though she doesn't spout poetry, she is an 'actress-singress' as she puts. Just landed from Jamnagar she does literal translation from Gujarati to English putting Maya's nerves on edge but making us laugh!

The first episode starts off brilliantly with the family stuck in a bus and we get a jhalak of every member of the family, taking you on a nostalgic trip. Later it shifts to the house and you meet the rest of the Sarabhais.

There are some moments which are extremely hilarious - the fan falling from the ceiling and Monisha's reasoning, she asking for a mannat from matkadar baba - Maya thinks she should have gone to a sophisticated baba! The Monisha-Maya banter is as funny as it was!

However, some of the jokes are dirty - not the risque kind - but leaning towards toilet humour - which you don't expect in a classy show like Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. Maybe, the makers are taking advantage of being on the digital platform, but hey this is one sitcom that doesn't need those crutches. It can raise laughter with its clean humour, we have seen it!

As for the actors, from Ratna Pathak Shah, Satish Shah, Sumeet Raghavan to Rajesh Kumar, everyone is in full form. Rupali's Monisha, we felt is a tad over-the-top. But together they are a riot. The newcomers in the form of Aishwarya Sakhuja (Sonia) and Vaibhavi Upadhyay (Jasmine) add to the craziness. Sahila and Rupali's son is a mix of his mother and grandmother - slightly precocious, but works!

Verdict: Refreshing and at the same time nostalgic, the first episode is worth a dekko.
