Sanjay Kapoor is all set to act in a TV show, which is a remake of the popular Turkish serial Ask-i-Memnu (forbidden love). It’s a romance between a widower and a much younger girl, with a love triangle thrown in. Though Sanjay refused to speak about the serial, he confirmed that he will be doing the show. The last time he was seen on TV was in the mini-series Karishma — The Miracles Of Destiny more than a decade ago.

Incidentally, Samir Soni was initially roped in to play the role in the new show opposite Smriti Kalra, and he had even shot the pilot episode. However, he finds himself out of it with Sanjay taking his place. Says Samir, “I haven’t been officially informed about it, but when I asked when we will shoot the next episode, I was told by the head of production that they want somebody older than me to play the role as I did not look old enough! I am a little surprised though because when I was offered the show, they knew what I looked like, but I guess after doing their research with the original show, they felt they needed an older guy. They haven’t told me who they have taken for the role, now.” Tell him it’s Sanjay and he says, “He is a dear friend of mine and I am happy he is doing it. I wish him all the best, he will do a great job.”

The serial also stars Simone Singh in a pivotal role. This Vikram Bhatt show is slated to air by July-August.
