Sanjay Dutt to be released from Yerawada jail in March 2016

Jailed actor Sanjay Dutt would be released in March, according to the official sources on Tuesday. Dutt would then be a free man after having completed the remaining 42-month period of his sentence.

Dutt had been sentenced to five-year imprisonment sentence for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. He was imprisoned in Yerawada jail in Pune. According to what sources claim, Dutt will be released on March 7, 2016.

Of the five-year sentence, the actor had completed 18 months of under trial. He was required to complete more 43 months of his trial which is soon coming to an end.

In this period, Dutt was granted parole or furlough on many counts for various reasons. This had attracted a lot of criticism from various quarters. The last he was on furlough was because he had to be home to attain to his daughter's medical problems.
