Being married may seem to be a challenge for an actress, especially when she has tied the knot with the son of a famous film family. And that exactly is the case for actress Samantha Akkineni who has heard a lot of things about the same ever since she got married to Naga Chaitanya in a private wedding ceremony in 2017.

While Samantha Akkineni has faced flak for wearing “skimpy” clothes despite being married, she was also subject to criticism for an onscreen kiss (which hardly lasted for 5 seconds) in Rangasthalam. But things did take an interesting turn when her husband Naga Chaitanya was seen kissing Divyansha Kaushik in the trailer of their upcoming film Majili.

While there was no criticism as it’s just assumed to be a norm for actors to kiss onscreen for professional reasons, a completely different take from when it involves a married actress, Samantha opened up about it in the process of promotions for the film which is up for release on April 5.

When asked if it was just the audience that seems bothered about this or if it’s the industry as a whole that makes a big deal of it, Samantha responded, “The industry is really far ahead. There’s Majili where the teaser has my husband kissing another woman, who’s not his wife.”

She added with a laugh, “But it (apparently) doesn’t work that way.” She was referring to how he couldn’t kiss another actress because she was in the film too.

Talking about how this works for the couple, Samantha said, “People have to understand that Chay and I have an amazing relationship, an amazing friendship, an amazing marriage and there’s a line between what is acting and what is real. For me, a kiss, a hug or a touch is the same thing when you are acting. That is one thing I really want to tell the fans. It’s the same rule. It’s the same thing. I am married. He is married. Different rules don’t apply.”
