After Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, which won’t clash with Sultan on Eid anymore, now it’s Steven Spielberg’s The BFG to take a step back and opt for a different release date. This despite having a scheduled release date of July 1, five days before Sultan does.
The big screen adaptation of the beloved Roald Dahl children’s novel, will now release on July 15. And while no official explanation is forthcoming from the film’s co-producers Reliance Entertainment, unofficial sources say it’s because “Nobody wants to take a panga with Salman”. Adds the source, “Shah Rukh Khan was determined to share the Eid release date with Salman, but finally opted out of the clash. It would seem that even someone of Spielberg’s stature would have to wait his turn, than take a chance against Salman’s Sultan, head-on.”
