The verdict on Salman Khan's long standing hit and run case has finally come out and Salman has been convicted with charge of culpable homicide. While the verdict came out around 11 am on Wednesday, the sentence came around two hours later. Shocking the people, the court has sentenced Salman to five years in prison.

The news has made Salman's fans teary eyed. But his mom Salma, who could not control herself, collapsed at her Bandra residence. "Salma could not control her emotions. She completely broke down and lost consciousness," says a source.

Hearing this, Sohail Khan, who was present with Salman during the verdict, rushed to their Bandra home to be with their mother. Not just that, after the news grabbed headlines, many Bollywood superstars have come out in support of the actor.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was on Wednesday sentenced to five years in jail by a Mumbai sessions court in the 2002 hit and run case, with all charges proved against him. The judgement in the over 12-year-old case, whose trial saw many twists and turns, was delivered by Judge D W Deshpande where the 49-year-old actor and his family were present. However, Salman Khan cannot apply for a bail in the session court and will have to approach High Court. But the Bombay High Court goes to vacation next week and therefore, he may be in for a long haul.
