Actor Saif Ali Khan was arrested on February 22 with Bilal Amrohi and Shakeel Ladak for assaulting NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma at the Wasabi Restaurant at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

Actor Saif Ali Khan has been chargesheeted by Mumbai police for allegedly assaulting an NRI businessman earlier this year, the police said here on Friday.

"Mumbai's Colaba police station filed a chargesheet against Khan in a metropolitan magistrate court on Thursday," Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shishwe told reporters here on Friday.

"The chargesheet has been filed with regard to a complaint registered against him for assaulting an NRI businessman on Feb 22," he added.

Two of Saif's friends, Bilal Amrohi and actress Amrita Arora's husband Shakeel Ladak, have also been named in the chargesheet.

Saif was arrested on February 22 with Amrohi and Ladak for assaulting NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma. They were later released on bail.

The incident occurred when Saif, Kareena Kapoor and some others were at the Wasabi Restaurant at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

Disturbed by their ruckus, Sharma had requested them to keep their voices down. However, this enraged Saif, who allegedly punched Sharma, breaking his nose. Ladak also allegedly hit Sharma's father-in-law Raman Patel.

Later, Sharma lodged a complaint against Saif at Colaba police station.
