A lot of people think fitness is about going to the gym, which is a completely wrong notion. Being fit is all about having a healthy mind and body. And along with workouts, a healthy diet is paramount. If your diet is not healthy, no matter how many times you go to the gym, it won't be of any use.
I work out every single day, but I make sure I eat a lot of proteins and healthy carbs. Many people avoid ghee, but I make a point to have desi ghee at least one day in a week. However, I completely avoid fried food.
Running is the easiest exercise - all you need is a pair of running shoes. For a gym, you need a membership and other paraphernalia. For some people, reaching a gym is also a task. For running, all you have to do is come out of your house and jog.
As far as I am concerned, I run a lot. I sometimes run to my sets and at times, after pack-up, I put on my headphones and jog. It is the best part of unwinding and I get a lot of mental peace. I also use the treadmill and the one tune that peps me up is the Rocky Theme song.
If you are running a marathon, you have to train properly. You can't just get up and say tomorrow is the marathon, I will run. You have to be prepared, practise running, and do proper stretches. Else, you'll end up getting internal injuries and cramps while running.
One person I think is fit to run a marathon is Iqbal Khan. Both of us are fitness freaks and when we meet, the only thing we discuss is our diet and workout. I am sure he will win the marathon, he is an enthu cutlet!
To the women participating in the marathon, I'd say, make sure you are well-hydrated. Don't stuff yourself before running, keep your stomach light.
The dna ICan is a great initiative as it creates awareness about being healthy in a good way. Sometimes by watching somebody, people start training and it becomes their life pattern, which is great.
