Role reversal: Mohanlal directs Prithviraj Sukumaran in 'Barroz' after latter donned director's hat for 'Lucifer'

For his directorial debut Lucifer, Prithviraj Sukumaran showed the towering personality of Mohanlal on the big screen which left an impressive mark on everyone. Now, the roles are reversed, as Mohanlal is sitting on the director's chair for Barroz and has Prithiviraj in a pivotal role. After confirming his presence in the film, Prithvi has kickstarted the shoot of the film and shared a photo from the sets on his social media pages.

In the photo, Prithviraj is seen sitting on a chair while Mohanlal the director narrating a scene to him. Both are having an intense discussion and it's indeed a picture-perfect moment. Prithvi shared the photo with a caption stating, "#Barroz @mohanlal."

As per reports in The Quint, Prithviraj confirmed his role in Barroz by stating, "The movie is one of its kind... But ultimately it all comes down to someone spending the money and showing conviction."

Barroz: Nidhi Kaakkum Bhootham is based on the novel titled Barroz: Guardian of D' Gama's Treasure written by Jijo Punnoose. The film stars Mohanlal in the titular role alongside Shayla McCaffrey, Sara Vega and Rafael Amargo.

Barroz is a 3D film and the shoot kickstarted on March 24, 2021. A huge event was held ahead of the shoot which was attended by Mammootty, Priyadarshan among other Malayalam celebs.

It was in 2019 when Mohanlal announced his directorial debut and fans have been sharing the excitement since then.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj will be soon be helming the sequel to Lucifer titled L2: Empuraan.
