The Rock On 2 promo was unveiled on Ganesh Chaturthi and it's mindblowing to say the least!
If you're in your early 20s, then Farhan Akhtar's debut film Rock On might have had a major impact on you. At least, it did on me. Introducing a new brand of music culture in Hindi films to bringing a super talent like Farhan Akhtar - the actor to the fore, Rock On is remembered for several reasons. Eight years on, the makers planned to come up with a sequel to the hit musical and #ReliveTheMagik yet again.
The teaser promo of Rock On 2 has been unveiled on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and needless to say, the 1 minute 28 second teaser gives us major throwbacks. We are certainly reliving the magic of Rock On, here's why!
The familiar tune!
Rock On became a crowd anthem and it remained so for years. That was back in 2008. Now that the makers have come up with a sequel to it, the title song remains the same, only a bit revamped. How? The new rock version has a new voice addition to it. That of Shraddha Kapoor. In the teaser, the moment Shraddha goes, 'Hai yeh waqt ka ishaara', I am floored. The song is still fresh in our minds and instantly connects.

Sorry Farhan, I admit you're brilliant in the teaser but Shraddha's hit the bull's eye with Rock On 2. Certainly the perfect choice for the film, it's not her voice but her looks that do the talking. From the docile, vulnerable and lost girl to the rising star, Shraddha is a stunner throughout the entire promo. We love the braids and the nose ring is oh-so-perfect! Welcome, Shraddha - the grunge woman in style.

There's nothing you need to say about this man. There's nothing this man can't do. I'm sure he's heard it several times that he's an actor par excellence and a visionary beyond anyone's belief, but there's a certain novel factor about Farhan. His eyes do most of the talking. And being a filmmaker himself, he certainly knows the audience pulse really well. From the first back shot to the intense look in the end, Farhan keeps you captivated and how.
The entire setting!
Never have we ever seen a Bollywood film completely shot in the North-East. Capturing the virgin locations and bringing about an untold tale about a less familiar region in front of the nationwide audience, that's a winning idea from the word go. Plus, the story and the backdrop perfectly suits the locales that the makers have picked. It's picturesque and the cinematography will bedazzle you.
The perfect mix of human emotions!
This isn't a love story. This isn't a comedy. This isn't an action saga either. But it has all the essential elements from each genre. The emotions are concocted well and that comes across from the stunning promo that the team has cut. A story of friendship, love, success, failure, reunion, separation, deceit and withdrawal, Rock On 2 has the perfect mix of all possible human emotions. We love.
