Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr. and singer Deborah Falconer's son Indio Falconer Downey was arrested in West Hollywood on Sunday afternoon on suspicion of cocaine possession. The incident took place when cops drove up along side a vehicle and noticed the passenger (Indio Downey) smoking something out of a pipe.
An L.A. County Sheriff's deputy pulled the car over, did a search and found cocaine in Indio's possession. He was arrested and taken to jail for possession of cocaine. There were two other passengers in the car but only Indio was arrested.
Indio Downey was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, sheriff's Sgt. Dave Valentine said. Downey was later released by the police authorities after posting a bail of $10,000.
Downey's movie star father, Robert Downey Jr. also spent years battling drug problems after finding fame in Hollywood in the 1980s. He later turned his life around and made a successful career comeback.
The 'Avengers' and 'Iron Man' trilogy actor, who struggled with drug addiction and also ended up in prison acknowledged his notable run-ins and his history with drugs in the past by thanking authorities on Monday for arresting his 20-year-old son on suspicion of cocaine possession.
In a statement to TMZ he said, “Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being. We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”
20-year-old Indio appeared in the 2005 movie "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," which starred his father. He is also known for his work on Jackie (2012) and in Run For Roxanne (2014).
