Daisy Shah was recently spotted with a tattoo on  her left arm in Devnagri font, a Sanskrit phrase, ‘Maatru, pitru devo bhava’ which means, ‘parents are next to God.’ She got inked at Aalim Hakim’s salon. She was there for a haircut when she got the urge to get a tattoo done.

“Given a choice I want to do a yin and yang tattoo on the middle of my chest and right next to my heart. I am considering doing it now. This will have a meaning too. There’s always good and bad, so the reason why I want to do it right next to my heart is because that is what a heart is — no matter how good your heart is there are times when the heart can do bad and vice-versa. It’s more related to the feelings which comes through the heart,” says Daisy.

Tattoos are private

“I like to do meaningful tattoos and it’s for myself and not the world. My tattoos are private. I am like that too. The more you talk about your personal life, the more people are going to judge you so it’s best to keep a low-profile.”

Emotional turbulence

Talking about her tattoo, Daisy says, “It was an instant decision. I was going through an emotional turbulence in my life, which made me realise that the only true love we have in our lives is that of our parents! Everything else and everyone else is just an illusion until you are shaken to reality! The tattoo is more of a reminder for me in future to never expect anything from anyone because people only come in our lives for sometime. Only our parents are constant. We depend on certain pople and expect some things from them but don’t get it that way sometimes, so it was that kind of a phase — an emotional turmoil, kind of a volcano..”

Impulsive decision

Daisy also has a bigger tattoo on her back. “This tattoo took about half an hour and I hardly felt the pain at all. My back tattoo is a tribal design which I got done almost a decade ago. All my tattoos have been spur-of-the-moment ones and not planned.”
