Big B has worked with many heroines in his long career but there were some pairings that shone brighter than the others. Here's a look at some of the actresses who looked best with the superstar on-screen
Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha
Talk about some of the best jodis in Bollywood and Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha's pair would win the top position hands down, even after so many years. Their pairing made its debut in 1973 with Namak Haraam, after which they starred in a string of films, notably Mr Natwarlal, Do Anjaane, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Suhaag. Their most memorable movie together, however, is the 1981 love triangle Silsila, which was also the last film in which they starred together, putting an end to their rumoured love affair.
Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman
Zeenat Aman and Big B sizzled on the screen in as many as 13 films together, chief among them including Mahaan, Laawaris, Don, The Great Gambler, Dostana and Pukar. The two made for a handsome couple on screen and the Zeenat-Amitabh pairing is one that remains entrenched in cinegoers' minds.
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri
Not only did these two talented actors go on to marry each other in real life, on-screen too, the Amitabh-Jaya pairing exuded a real warmth in movies such as Abhimaan, Zanjeer, Chupke Chupke, Sholay and Mili. While they romanced each other in many films, in recent times, the couple played themselves in R Balki's romantic movie Ki & Ka.
Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi
'My name is Anthony Gonsalves' sang Bachchan to Babi in Amar Akbar Anthony and a whole generation fell in love with this beautiful pair. The leggy Parveen Babi complemented the tall actor perfectly and they appeared in a number of films including Majboor, Do Aur Do Paanch and Kaalia.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rakhee
The pairing of a pretty and docile Rakhee and a dashing Big B could be slightly difficult to comprehend but if you have seen them together in movies such as Kabhi Kabhie, Trishul, Barsaat Ki Ek Raat and Kasme Vaade, you would be surprised at the way the two actors complemented each other.
