After the hit Koffee With Karan, every channel is coming up with its own version of a celebrity chat show. Look Who's Talking with Niranjan is the latest to cash in on the trend. But there's one difference. Niranjan Iyengar is not a celebrity and that works in his favour. You watch the show sans any expectations and at the end of it are surprised at how good it's turned out to be!

What is it about: A chat show, it has screenwriter and lyricist Nirenjan interviewing the Bolly A-listers.

Setting: The show moves out of the studio into a restaurant bar where two friends usually meet and chat over drinks, and this immediately takes it into an informal space. It makes for a 'refreshing' change from the other chat shows.

What works: Totally unassuming, casual and real, Niranjan immediately connects with the viewers. He doesn't grill the celebrity, nor is he flippant. His first guest Karan Johar talked dime-a-dozen, but everything he said –good, bad, in jest, or seriously – made for interesting viewing. Karan, who is a consummate host himself revealed a different side to him. The deep friendship and camaraderie he shares with Niranjan came across with Karan in a completely no holds barred conversation. Whether it's his differences with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ram Gopal Verma or the cracks that developed in his friendship with Shah Rukh Khan, Karan did not shy away from telling it like it is. At some point, Karan said 'I am saying what is expected of me but I don't know if I mean it!' Go figure. When asked about his obsession with heartbreak that plays out prominently in every film of his, Karan candidly said he had mastered the emotion as he had experienced it. 'I am such a drama queen, I feed on heartbreak', he revealed. And yes he also confessed that he uses humour as a shield to his otherwise dark, depressed personality!

The best part about the show is its duration - only 30-minutes -- which makes it short and watchable.

What does not work: If the first episode is anything to go by, there are no cons, but it all depends on who the next guest is.
Verdict: Even if you have already seen them in other chat shows, give this a try. It will be worth your while.
