Style Goddess - Rihanna sure knows how to make an entrance. The singer flaunted a yellow cape with fur detailing by Beijing-based designer Guo Pei on top of her pink mini dress. The heavily embellished cape had a train so long that she required help getting it up the steps. The gold and silver headpiece added to the outfit.

Going for gold - Kate Hudson dazzled in a gold Michael Kors gown that highlighted her svelte figure. The gold overlay design added an Oriental touch and Kate completed the look with a top bun and a floral headpiece.

Dapper duo - Definitely the best dressed couple of the night, George and Amal Clooney both looked fab on the red carpet. While Amal opted for a strapless cherry red gown with an embellished bodice by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, George wore a Giorgio Armani black tuxedo.

Picture perfect - Joe Manganiello and fiancee Sofia Vergara looked elegant as they made their MET red carpet debut as a couple. Sofia opted for a blush Marchesa gown with a plunging neckline, while Joe stuck to a classic black tux.

Too experimental: Looking at Solange Knowles' outfit one can't help but wonder what was she was thinking! From the psychedelic print to the shell-structured silhouette, this Giles Deacon dress is neither elegant enough for the red carpet nor keeping with the Oriental theme. Justifiably her look has been compared to a stingray or a frilled-neck dragon.

Tacky choice: Katy Perry went for a pop art inspired gown from Moschino's Fall 2015 line. From the fit to the colours and the graffiti style print, the outfit failed on several levels. We are not digging the black pixie crop either.

Black monster - Lady Gaga sported a kimono-style black Balenciaga ensemble that was covered in 14,000 sheared feathers and rhinestones. Underneath her coat was a sparkly black jumpsuit and she styled it with a beaded peacock headdress and painted eyebrows. The entire look didn't work for us.

Flaming raven - Sarah Jessica Parker sure grabbed eyeballs at the event. The actress flaunted a one-shoulder cape style gown (one of her own designs with H&M) and topped it off with a Philip Treacy headpiece. She may have taken the Oriental theme too far with this large head gear complete with scarlet flames, tassels and embellishments.
