Salman Khan responded to the National Commission for Women's demand on Wednesday to apologise for the 'rape' analogy he made recently while promoting his movie Sultan. According to NCW chief Lalitha Kumaramangalam, the response is not an apology and the commission is studying the reply provided by his lawyer.

But this is not the end of the woes for the star. Maharashtra State Commission for Women has asked Bajrangi Bhaijaan star to appear for a hearing on July 7.

MSCW chief Vijaya Rahatkar told ANI that the commission received a letter by Salman Khan's lawyer on June 28 saying since the case is being held by NCW, it should not be heard at the state level. This will avoid the double jeopardy scenario.

But MSCW chief said that the subject is concurrent and the state commission has the power to hear. Therefore, the star will have to appear for a hearing, along with his lawyer, on July 7.

The drama began when Salman made the comments, "When I used to walk out of the ring, after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn't walk straight."

However, Salman's father Salim Khan and brother Arbaaz Khan had earlier come out in his defence and said that the intention behind the 'rape' remark was not wrong.
