Daisy Shah made her debut last Friday. Everyone who has seen Jai Ho is of the opinion that her screen avatar reminds them of Rani Mukerji. Salman Khan has the uncanny knack of spotting and introducing girls who resemble his heroines from the past. Sneha Ullal who starred with him in Lucky: No Time For Love bore a striking resemblance to Aishwarya Rai, while Zarine Khan whom he launched in Veer, looked like a healthier version of Katrina Kaif. So much so that people even named her Fatrina!
Now, Salman’s latest heroine — Daisy — reminds one of the senior actresses and from certain angles looks exactly like her. And it is not just the facial features. The other things these two actresses have in common are light eyes, a dusky complexion and husky voice. Except that Daisy is taller. In fact, people have been calling her the ‘tall Rani.’ Tell her that and she retorts, “I have no idea. I mean if people are saying it, that’s their take. No doubt Rani is very beautiful but I firmly believe that every person has some resemblance to someone you have seen earlier.”
Doesn’t she take it as a compliment? “Of course, as I said Rani is beautiful but unfortunately, I haven’t worked with her. I have done maximum dance numbers with Katrina Kaif!” Ask her, who her favourite heroine is and she names Kajol. “I love her work,” she says with a twinkle in her eye. Daisy has a long way to go before she comes anywhere close to her idol but the response for Jai Ho has been encouraging. “People are saying I am looking nice and my performance is subtle, not over-the-top,” she smiles.
Rani and Salman are good friends and the duo has acted in several films. Rani was the heroine of Salman’s home production Hello Brother directed by his brother Sohail. The duo has many times been part of the same film even though they haven’t been paired opposite each other or even had scenes together like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Saawariya.
