Ram Kapoor, one of television’s most loved actors who plays a khadoos dad in his first full-fledged comedy role suggested the title Mere Dad Ki Maruti to the makers. When Yash Raj films and the director were brain storming over the title of the father-son relationship story, Ram came up with it. Everyone loved it when they heard it and immediately sealed the title, says a source.

Apparently in his teenage days Ram had stolen his father’s Maruti and had accidently banged it, so it has a nostalgic recall for him. Which is why he hit upon the idea of naming it so. Ram confirms, “I shared a similar relationship with my father just like I share with Saquib in the film. In my teenage days I dented my dad’s new Maruti.”

The film is said to be an outrageous comedy set against the backdrop of a loud Punjabi wedding in Chandigarh. It tells the story of a boy who sneaks his dad’s fancy new car out to impress the college hottie and how all hell breaks loose when he loses it!
