Ram Gopal Varma seeks to file complaint against Telugu channel

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma today approached the Hyderabad city police seeking to file a complaint against a local Telugu TV channel alleging that the channel by telecasting a programme had defamed him.

Varma made an oral complaint to Hyderabad city police commissioner AK Khan alleging that the channel by telecasting a programme on Wednesday last had defamed his personality and launched a false campaign.

The TV channel reportedly passed some comments on Varma's direction of films (Hindi and Telugu) which he felt were offending.

"It (programme content) had nothing to do with the critics' views but it was a personal attack on me," Varma said in conversation with the same channel in the evening.

The police commissioner asked Varma to file a complaint in writing, sources said.
