Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has apparently decided to drop the name of his former muse and actress Urmila Matondkar from the guest list of the music launch of his forthcoming film because sources say he feared she may steal the limelight from his leading lady, Mahie Gill.

RGV had initially decided to invite Matondkar to the music launch (which is happening today) because he thought that she would get in the necessary attention as his film doesn’t have a big star.

“Ramu got the rights of a Rangeela song to be remixed for the promotion of his forthcoming film with actors Mahie and Deepak Dobriyal. Since Urmila featured in the original song, he thought she should be included in the film's promotion. But that would have cost him dearly as she would have hogged all the limelight. Urmila hasn’t been officially informed that she is not on the guest list anymore, she just didn’t get the official invite and nobody followed it up with her for the event. So naturally, she would not turn up,” says a source.

According to a source from the RGV camp, it was not exactly Gill who would be uncomfortable in Matondkar’s presence but it was Ramu himself.

“The filmmaker, who is keeping the shock factor alive at every step of the movie based on the brutal murder of Neeraj Grover, is now keeping it simple with just Mahie and Deepak as part of the music launch. RGV thinks the focus would shift from his movie to Urmila,” says the official.

When contacted for an official response, producer Sunil Bohra confirmed that Urmila wouldn’t be there for the event.

“Yes, we were thinking of getting Urmila since she was in the original song but now we are going ahead with the music launch only with the star cast of the film,” said Bohra.
