Telugu superstar Ram Charan’s goof-up at a music contest’s grand finale left his co-star Priyanka Chopra and the people on the set rather embarrassed last week.
Ram Charan , new to Mumbai and its often contradictory entertainment industry, put his foot in his mouth when during the recording of the finale he turned to the Junior Indian Idol judges music composers Vishal and Shekhar and told them in all sincerity that he loved their music in Chennai Express.
“Especially the Lungi Dance.” An eerie embarrassed silence followed. Priyanka, apparently, didn’t know where to look.
For those who came in late, the aforementioned Lungi song was actually composed by Yo Yo Honey Singh. Vishal and Shekhar, who had done the rest of the Chennai Express music, were deeply affronted by Honey Singh’s interpolation.
Says a guest from the show team, “For a minute everyone went deathly quiet when Ram Charan congratulated Vishal-Shekhar for the Lungi Dance number. Priyanka was so embarrassed she spoke very fast and rushed out of the set with Ram Charan. We are sure she gave Ram Charan an earful because when they returned he looked red-faced and apologetic.”
Needless to say, Ram Charan’s Lungi faux pas was duly edited from telecast.
