The actor had an earth shattering opening with Lingaa bringing in over Rs 16 crore at the box office, beating Vijay's Kaththi's opening day record. Given that Rajini films are celebrated like festivals down South, such a humongous opening was rather expected!

Not just at the domestic arena, but the film has weaved its magic in the overseas circuits as well. And if the film continues to run at such a pace, it's only about a few days till it reaches the Rs 100 crore mark as well.
