"If you could see me right now, you’d be scared. I look like a monster!” says Madhavan, as he prepares for his upcoming Tamil-Hindi bilingual film that is being directed by Sudha, Mani Ratnam’s assistant. In this untitled film, Madhavan plays the roll of a boxer, for which he underwent training for six months, and is currently sporting long hair and is completely beefed up.

While that sounds interesting, it’s his first Hollywood project that has us curious. A remake of the 1968-George Romero zombie film, Night Of The Living Dead, this new version is not only set in the future but technologically way ahead of its time. Night Of The Living Dead: Origins, which is in 3D format, will see Maddy play the role of a US marine officer who gets caught up in a zombie attack in New York City.

“I am not exactly a fan of zombie movies and don’t watch them as such. But this film uses a technology that is so brilliant that I could not say no. It’s similar to what was used in Avatar but a level up.

It’s the first time something like this is being done and I will say that if this technology works, it will create waves. Imagine Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in a film, opposite each other, where they look the same age!” says Madhavan, shedding some light on the film.

The actor says he would find it difficult to compare his experience in Indian cinema with the one he’s just wrapped up in Hollywood.

“I can’t compare. There, I was sitting on a chair with a helmet and a camera in front of my face. I have never done a film of this kind, so I can’t really tell you anything,” he adds.

Did he have to learn the American accent for the role though? “The director and I did discuss this and he said he found my accent to be completely alright and Americans shouldn’t have any difficulty in understanding it. So no, I didn’t have to learn the accent. I am pretty good with languages and accents but yes, not having to work on the accent did make the job a little easier,” says Madhavan.

The actor, after having spent quite a few months in the US, is back in the news after a while but not being ‘talked about’ isn’t something that bothers him. “In fact, I prefer it that way,” he clarifies. “What’s the point in talking about something that does not involve my work just to stay visible? I don’t like being talked about, especially when it does nothing to my career.”
