Popular actor R Madhavan, who was last seen playing a scientist in Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif starrer Zero, will be seen playing a scientist once again in his upcoming film titled, Rocketry: The Nambi effect. This time, Madhavan will be essaying the role of an ISRO scientist - Nambi Narayanan and will also be taking the director's seat for the project.

Madhavan has begun shooting for Rocketry on Monday. The actor shared a picture from the sets of the film, with a clapboard in his hands. He captioned the post writing, “Need all you blessings (sic).” The clapboard makes it clear that Ananth Mahadevan won't be directing the film any more as Madhavan's name can be seen next to the director's credit.

Speculations are rife about the reason why Ananth Mahadevan left the project due to 'unavoidable circumstance'. However, the makers haven't made any official confirmation yet.

Earlier, Madhavan had said in a statement, "Ananth Mahadevan is an extremely talented filmmaker. However, owing to unavoidable circumstances and certain pressing commitments he could no longer direct Rocketry: The Nambi Effect." About the film, he added, "Rocketry is close to my heart for many reasons. The film is shaping up well and I can’t wait to tell the incredible story of Nambi Narayanan to the world.”

An IANS report had quoted the actor as saying, "This film has become an obsession for me. Three years ago, Anant Mahadevan narrated me the story of Nambi Narayanan. I felt that it’s story of man who has faced injustice in his life because he was jailed over false charges. After that, I started writing script on him and it took me seven months to write that script. When I used to meet him regarding script writing that time, he never used to talk about his achievements but as I kept talking to him, I realized I am doing an injustice with this story because I am only talking about his case.”
