Purab Kohli's self imposed hibernation

Actors are known to take commercial flops a bit too personally, and that probably explains why actor Purab Kohli went into self imposed hibernation post the release of Hide and Seek. But he insists he has been busy with ad commercials and was also chalking out his next move for the big screen.

“I would be happy if I had a release lined up every Friday, but that’s not possible especially for actors like me who have limited options to choose from. But yes, it was part deliberate too. We need to obviously analyse our decisions irrespective of whether it was a good or a bad one,” he says.

Talking about the role that he plays in Turning 30, Purab says, “I play the role of a photographer called Jay who kind of found himself after he turned 30. Jay is like the light at the end of the tunnel for Naina, played by Gul, who is at the crossroads of life.” Is there a difference in emotions in men and women when they take the turn towards 30? “Well, for men I think it is more about their career whereas for women it is about their self. The major issue with women is that they are conscious of the change in their looks. But this is just my personal observation, it might differ with what others feel,” says Purab.

In addition to Turning 30, Purab has the second season of a coffee ad to look forward to. “It’s almost like shooting for a film. It’s nice to be associated with such a brand that has people hooked on,” says Purab, referring to the attention the ad has garnered.
A little known fact about Purab is that he comes from a filmi lienage. He is the nephew of director Shekhar Kapur. Ask him why he never talks about that, and he replies, “He is my father’s cousin and my father comes from a family related to Dev Anand too. So what can I talk about!”
