Priyanka Chopra’s Marathi production, Ventilator has been invited for the 55th New York Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held in May next year. The film, which will premiere at the forthcoming MAMI film festival, marks her debut in Marathi production and is very close to her heart. Priyanka’s mother, Madhu, who has been handling the entire set-up in her absence, revealed this recently.

“We have received a letter from the film festival authorities to that effect though it is a little premature to talk about it. Priyanka wants to do full justice to it, which is why she is also looking at releasing it in international pockets,” she said, adding that the actress would be playing a very interesting cameo in the film.

According to Madhu, PC always had an affinity for Marathi culture from the time she first played the role of a Marathi girl opposite Shahid Kapoor in Kaminey, “She had researched extensively for the role and won several hearts with her performance.” More recently, she was seen as Kashibai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Bajirao Mastani, “She has a distinct connect with Maharastrian culture and its audiences and this Marathi film will further build up her bonding with the audiences,” Madhu said.

Talking about Priyanka’s decision to make her production debut in Marathi cinema with Ventilator, she said, “Our film highlights the importance of family values. When the director Rajesh Mhapuskar (of Ferrari Ki Sawari fame) narrated this story to us, we decided to go ahead with it for our production debut. The fact that Zee stepped on board to distribute the film after seeing it, gave it an additional edge,” Madhu shared.

She  said that Priyanka was also looking at interesting collaborations in the field of production. “Priyanka is monitoring her productions round the clock ensuring that everything is working according to plans,” says the proud mom.
