Kangana Ranaut's loss is Priyanka Chopra's gain. The actress who was all set to star in a critical biopic on the life of late Sarabjit Singh has decided to opt out of the project and the role has now been offered to Priyanka Chopra. Here's how  everything happened.

It was Hansal Mehta who was initially roped in to direct the biopic but following his National Award victory, Mary Kom director Omung Kumar was brought on board for the film. The film will largely revolve around the life of Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit's sister and her patient but valiant struggle against all odds to prove her brother's innocence. Sarabjit, an Indian national was sentenced to death over charges of terrorism in Pakistan in the 1990s.

We hear once Omung was brought on board and Kangana decided to walk out, it was Omung's idea to get his previous film heroine Priyanka Chopra play the lead heroine. Says a source, "Omung shares a great rapport with PC. They have worked together and have tasted immense success. Once Omung brought up this idea, we went ahead and spoke to Priyanka for the film."

While Priyanka remains mum on signing the film, she does agree that the film has been offered to her and she will take a call on it soon. But if the grapevine is anything to go for, PC has already signed on the dotted lines. Sorry Kangana, this time, your Fashion co-star has taken the step ahead.
