The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced the second batch of presenters for Oscars 2016 and India erupted in a cheer because 'Desi Girl' Priyanka Chopra was included as one of the presenters.
The Academy has been under fire over the lack of diversity in the nominations for the second year in the row. Including more actors of different ethnicity is one way of making amends to the situation.
The move has worked out well in favour of Priyanka Chopra. The Hollywood breakout star from India, represents one of the prominent communities in the United States of America. Priyanka's FBI drama Quantico has been topping rating charts since the premiere and has been renewed for another season by ABC. She won the People's Choice Awards for Popular Actress in Drama for her portrayal of Alex Parrish in Quantico.
Recently, the actress presented the award for Best Supporting Actor to Idris Elba at the SAG Awards. She's been working the award circuit and the Oscars is the best place to be!
Meanwhile, Bollywood is proud of their export and has not stopped congratulating Priyanka for representing India on one of the biggest entertainment platforms in the world.
