Premam: Naga Chaitanya takes a pay cut for Shruti Haasan!

As everyone knows now, Premam, the Malayalam superhit film, is being remade in Telugu with Naga Chaitanya. When Naga Chaitanya was signed and came on board, he reportedly wanted Shruti Haasan to play the role of Malar in the film. In the original version it was Sai Pallavi who played the role but she is too simple and de-glam for the Telugu audience.

When Naga Chaitanya suggested Shruti Haasan's name to the producers of the film, they were very hesitant as they could not afford her. After the super success of Srimanthudu and Race Gurram, Shruti has increased her salary and the producers of Premam could not afford her. So what did Naga Chaitanya do?
