Indian electronica gods MIDIval Punditz have just dropped a powerful single, Rootha Yaar featuring Kolkata-based Indian classical singer, Sukanya Chattopadhyay. This is the duo’s (Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj) first release since their 2015 album, Light

The track is quintessentially Punditz with robust synths that go perfectly with the full-bodied vocals. The track is based on the writings of Baba Bulle Shah and was originally written as part of the soundtrack for the web series Made In Heaven, on which Gaurav collaborated with Tarana Marwah (Komorebi). The new version features a heavy groove that will be perfect for the dance floors as well as a subdued evening lounging around. The number is a perfect earworm.

Those who missed music by the project, who gave the brilliant Train Song in Gully Boy this year, have much to rejoice. They are all set to put out two more singles after this to complete the trilogy. Each will involve different styles of Indian folk and Sufi music, with a distinct Punditz 2019 touch. Each release will be followed by remixes by a different artistes from across the world — Gaudi, Blot!, Komorebi and Curtain Blue.
