A travelogue which focuses on the vibrant music played at an annual Bob Dylan concert in Meghalaya by bands from Northeast India has bagged an award at the prestigious Finisterra Arrabida Film Art & Tourism Festival in Portugal.

Mumbai-based "Bidyut Kotoky's "Guns & Guitars: A musical travelogue" brings to light the positive influence of music emanating from the youth living in the Northeast, which has been crippled by violence for the past several decades.

The award, in the 'best music category', is the latest recognition for the documentary.

Prior to it, it was in the Indian Panorama of IFFI 2016 and also selected as one of the top 100 documentaries of 2016 by Color Tape International Film Festival, considered the largest festival of the Southern Hemisphere.

Besides, the 98-minute documentary has made to several other international film festivals.

Bidyut says the aim of his film is to track the journey of eight rock groups from the eight northeastern states till it culminates in the grand finale on the night of May 24 with Bob Dylan's birthday concert.

The film tries to bring to light how these youngsters arise out of the negative energies that surround their environment with the guitars in their hand and songs of life and dreams in their hearts.

Bidyut follows the select rock bands to be part of an annual concert to celebrate Dylan's birthday. This concert has been held continuously for past 45 years now by legendary rocker Lou Majaw in Shillong.
