A new serial Mujhe Pankh De Do, about women achievers will soon be launched on Life Ok. The seven-episode series will trace the journey of successful women like Ekta Kapoor, Sunidha Chauhan, Anjali Bhagwat and Kalpana Chawla. Pooja Gor has been roped in to essay the role of Ekta Kapoor.
Interestingly, the actress best known for her serial Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya had made her debut in Ekta’s show Kitani Mohabbat Hai. However, when she was approached to essay the queen of soaps, Pooja refused initially. “I was very scared. Ekta is my Godmother and what if she doesn’t like it?” was Pooja’s thought.
A few days later she happened to meet Ekta and told her about the offer. “Ekta was okay with it and that’s when I got the confidence to do it,” says the actress who has already shot for it. Pooja says the serial is being presented realistically, bringing out the chemistry between siblings Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor, the various aspects of her persona and her transformation from a party girl to the czarina of TV and her success in films.
“There is one incident when Ekta was just 18 years old and was returning home late at night from a party. She was tip toeing when Tusshar called out and said ‘Aagayi heroine’. Tusshar was the studious kind and was at his study table. Ekta retorted, ‘chal tu apna kaam kar’. I could relate to that because even I have a younger brother and our age-difference is five years,” smiles Pooja.
