There is a connection between Brenton Thwaites' Henry and Orlando Bloom's Will Turner.
A new featurette from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has officially confirmed a fan theory about Brenton Thwaites' character.
The fifth movie in the Pirates franchise is set to release on May 26 and features a whole new bunch of cast members playing new characters. Some of the characters are returning to play their iconic roles. For example, Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner.
Speaking of Turner, it was always speculated by fans that the new character of Henry, played by Thwaites is the son of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. But there was no official comment or statement from the makers of the movie confirming the fan theories. Henry was always described as 'a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy' who forms an alliance with Jack Sparrow and Carina Smyth to track down the trident of Poseidon.
But a featurette released on Tuesday confirmed him as Henry Turner. In the video, Thwaites says, "This film is exciting. There’s something huge happening every day so it has an energy and a force behind it that I’ve never really experienced before."
Directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg talked about chasing the opportunity to helm the fifth movie in the franchise. They revealed that there are huge action pieces with thousands of extras working to get epic shots on the screen. "Not only is it huge in scope, but we’re dealing with iconic characters and iconic ships and elements," says Rønning.
Javier Bardem who plays the baddie Captain Salazar said, "The new characters are going to bring a new flavour, a different dimension to one of the most powerful franchises of all time."
