Okay, so Kangana Ranaut keeps making random comments, in all her interviews. Random - because she does it merely to be in the news and sadly, they are always the headlines one likes to read. While Kangana, you might be at your A-game when it comes to publicity and PR, your statements go haywire most times.

And no, we aren't talking without proof. Forget what you said about Hrithik Roshan and Karan Johar. Let's get into a much more recent space. Kangana, didn't you say during one of your interviews that actresses who work with the Khans don't have any longevity. In case you don't remember, let us help you.

During your interview with Rajeev Masand, post Rangoon's release, when he asked you about your choice of not working with the leading superstars, you had said-

"In fact, there is no longevity with working with Khans. It’s the other way around because what I am today, where I stand today, as the leading lady doing a film with a Khan, let’s be rational about it. Where would it take me? Can it take me a notch higher than where I already am? It cannot! What can it give me that I have already not achieved? I can’t see a single thing…if you can tell me. I have popularity, I have built a fan following of mine, where do I go from here. The only way I can last is by growth. That I will only get if I go a notch higher than my last film. In a film, there’s only one hero. There are exceptions of course. Let’s talk about a Khan film. Who is the hero in that film? When I have done and working on films that give me the possibility of building a brand of my own individually, it will be very stupid of me to go and stand behind someone else and try and encash their popularity. Not really. Aamir is kind to discuss his films with me. It’s not that I have a different attitude towards them when I am around them. My attitude remains the same. Until Queen, I was very open to working the Khans. After Tanu Weds Manu, I realised that if in a film, I am not the hero, it will disappoint everyone. It’s a very professional strategy that I have adopted. And Shah Rukh sir, I am a huge fan. It’s very unfortunate that our paths will never cross."

Now, lets take this example and show you how wrong you were. An actress like Anushka Sharma has balanced both kind of roles - working with the Khans and doing meaty roles as well. Anushka is possibly one heroine who, despite being in a big budgeted superstar flick, has managed to hold a ground of her own and come out with a quite strong role. Be it with Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, with Aamir Khan in PK or with Salman Khan in Sultan. In all her films with the Khans, she stood her ground and the audience rooted for her. In fact, Sultan was initially offered to you (as you have claimed yourself) and you decided not to do it because you felt your role wasn't correctly proportionate to Salman's. Wrong again! I've watched the film and I've seen how Anushka's role in the film has turned out to be.

You instead chose Rangoon because despite two heavyweight male actors in the same flick, Vishal Bhardwaj made you the 'hero' of the film. I've watched Rangoon and we really liked it. It's unfortunate that the film tanked at the box office. The film raked in only Rs 20 crore in its lifetime run. It also starred two of the popular heroes of today's times- Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. But you had a way more prominent role, I'm sure you would agree as well.

Today, Anushka has just come up with an interesting film where she played the lead. I hope you have heard of it as well because you are a torchbearer of similar movies. Phillauri which is also Anushka's second home production had her playing the friendly ghost. It was made a budget of around Rs 20 crore, compared to Rangoon's huge Rs 60 crore. It's been a week and Phillauri has already beaten Rangoon. Phillauri has crossed the lifetime collections of your film. And that too, with a heroine (playing the lead) who has worked with all the Khans and isn't one to have longevity (don't disagree, we have given your quotes as proof).

What does this say about you? No, we don't mean you're playing the victim card. Neither are you playing the woman card. You might be right in your choices and I have loved you in films like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns but why is it that every time a film of yours fails, you only turn back on your film and point out a reason why it didn't work. For example, you claimed Vishal chopped your scenes from Rangoon whereas whoever has watched Rangoon will agree that the filmmaker put the whole spotlight on your Julia.

This long post is not a hate-post. Don't misconstrue it for one. You are a terrific performer who can gift the country, the industry and the people some amazing films. It would be really amazing if you channelise all your energy into putting together a great project rather than giving interviews with spicy one-liners just to grab headlines. You anyway are an A-lister and you need not do that. Look at Vidya Balan. She does her own kind of films and might have never done a film as a leading lady opposite a Khan but she doesn't make statements against other actresses and their career choices the way you do. Choose films that suit you the best. But in turn, don't belittle what your other contemporaries are doing. Because maybe, like you, even they in their own little ways are trying to bring in the same revolution for the betterment of heroines in Bollywood.

Whether it's Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan, Alia Bhatt and every other actress in the industry, they are all fighting for the same cause. Hope this letter reaches you and we can all see a much happier, better version of Kangana.
