According to a report in Pakistani media outlet Dawn, social media sensation and model Quandeel Baloch was reportedly murdered by her brother. Her brother had allegedly been threatening her for putting up Facebook posts and videos, that some called ‘bold’.

The police added that Qandeel was in Multan for a week and forensic experts are examining the corpse. While earlier reports suggested that the she had been shot, the police are saying that she was strangled to death at her Multan residence, and her brother fled after committing the ghastly crime.

Baloch had reportedly been getting death threats and had sought security from the interior ministry but received no response. She was reportedly planning to settle down abroad and had told the Express Tribune: “I know I will not be provided security and I am not feeling secured here so have decided to move abroad with my parents after Eidul Fitr.”

Baloch, who has often been compared to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, was in the news when a man claimed on television that he’d been married to Baloch. Baloch admitted that she was married and had a son with him and that he used to beat her up. Baloch claimed that she was married when she was 17 and the marriage ended in a year. She said: “He never told my child I am his mother. It was a forced marriage. He tortured me day and night during the one year I was married to him. After a year, I ran away with my son and sought refuge in Darul Aman.”

Her estranged husband Aashiq Hussain, however claimed that it was a love marriage and he still has letters which she wrote with her blood.

Before this, Baloch was in the news for taking a selfie with a Muslim cleric who was then suspended by the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs.

During the World T20 tournament, Baloch had made news for promising to strip for Shahid Afridi if Pakistan beat India (which they didn’t). After the loss, the Pakistani model completely lost her cool, lashing out at Afridi and co, and then switched sides to express her love for Virat Kohli.
