Singer Elton John, who shares two children with his husband David Furnish, is fuming mad at Dolce & Gabbana's Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana over comments they made about same-sex parents and babies conceived via artificial insemination.

The top designers, who are also gay and were once a couple, had made their remarks to Italian magazine Panorama in an interview published last week, reported E! online. Gabbana previously said, "The only family is the traditional one. I am opposed to the idea of a child growing up with two gay parents." "You are born to a mother and a father. Or at least that's how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented wombs, semen chosen from a catalogue," Dolce had added.

"How dare you refer to my beautiful children as 'synthetic,'" John, 67, wrote in an Instagram post. "And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF - a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana," said the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter.

John and Furnish, who tied the knot in England in December, are parents to sons Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, 4, and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, 1, who were both born to a surrogate mother.

Dolce and Gabbana defend anti-gay comments

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have responded to backlash after their "synthetic" babies remarks were condemned by Elton John. Despite the backlash, the two Italian renowned designers stand firmly by their statement, reported Ace Showbiz.

They said, "We believe firmly in democracy and we think freedom of expression is essential for that. We talked about our way of looking at the world, but it was not our intention to express a judgement on other people's choices. We believe in freedom and love."

Martina Navratilova applauded the singer, "Right on Elton and David. My D&G shirts are going in the bin - don't want anyone to wear them."

Ricky Martin joined the critics, "@dolcegabbana your voices are too powerful to be spreading so much hatred. Wake up. It's 2015. Lover yourselves guys #boycottdolcegabbana."
