Sydney: US talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has reportedly joined the list of Hollywood moguls, sports stars and rappers who have expressed interest in buying NBA team, the Los Angeles Clippers following the expulsion of disgraced owner Donald Sterling.

In a recording made public over the weekend, the man now confirmed to be Sterling told his much-younger girlfriend that he did not want her associating with black people or attending Clippers games with black friends.

According to News.com.au, Oprah, boxing greats Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. and millionaire musician Sean 'Diddy' Combs are all on the list of potential replacements for NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who banned Sterling from professional basketball for life.

The report mentioned that Oprah is considering the prospect of a joint bid to buy the Clippers with Dreamworks mogul David Geffen and Oracle founder Larry Ellison, although she publicly denied that she is interested in buying the team.

However, the media queen slammed the 80-year-old real estate tycoon for having a 'plantation mentality' and the report added that Silver has called on other NBA team owners to force Sterling to sell as a three-quarters majority of the remaining 29 owners must agree.

NBA Hall of Famer Earvin 'Magic' Johnson, whose photo with Sterling's girlfriend in part prompted the owner's tirade, is a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and he tweeted that he too wanted to own a complete NBA franchise one day, while rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs tweeted that although he is a New York Knicks fan, he is also a business man.
