Saif Ali Khan was born on August 16, 1970 to cricketer and Nawab of Pataudi, Mansoor Ali Khan, and actress Sharmila Tagore, the great-grandniece of Rabindranath Tagore.

From struggling to get a foothold in the industry to joining the Khan brigade of Bollywood, Saif has come a long way in his 21-year-old career.

Following in his mother's footsteps, Saif made his acting debut with Yash Chopra's Parampara in 1992. He went on to do some more films but success came along with Main Khiladi Tu Anadi (1994).

However, his career failed to pick up and after a string of flops, Saif was noticed in Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Then came Kya Kehna, where he got a chance to exhibit his versatility in a negative character. But it was Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai that put him in the league of sought-after actors.

There has been no looking back for Saif ever since. He went on to be a part of commercial successes like Kal Ho Na Ho, Salaam Namaste, Hum Tum and Parineeta. He also bagged the award for the best actor for Hum Tum.
