Mani Ratnam's upcoming new-age Tamil romance film has again created a buzz on social media.

A month ago, when the trailer of the film was out, fans on social media went beserk and #OKKanmani trended for days. A fortnight ago, the first song of the film, Mental Manadhil, was released and #MentalManadhil has not died down since.

The marketing team made sure the #OKKanmani fever grips on overnight by releasing the album on Friday midnight!

The album consists of 9 songs composed by Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman and penned by Vairamuthu.

The legendary duo Rahman-Ratnam who have produced few of the finest music in Kollywood and Bollywood have come together once again and created this magic number. In the past, both have collaborated for films like Roja, BombayDil SeAlaipayuthe (adapted in Bollywood as Saathiya)Yuva, Guru and Raavan to name a few.

The film stars Malayalam superstar Mammootty's son Dulquer Salmaan opposite Nithya Menen. Also starring are Prakash Raj, Leela Samson, Ramya Subramaniam in lead roles. The film is written, directed and produced by Mani Ratnam. The trailer had brought back Saathiya memories for a number of fans.

Undoubtedly, Mental Manadhil is the best song in the album. (Read Mental Manadhil review here)

What follows Mental Manadhil is Aye Sinamika which is soothing, romantic and young. The guitar acoustics are impeccable and Karthik's soulful music forces you to put the song on repeat mode.

Maula Wa Sallim, sung by AR Rahman's son Ameen just goes on to prove that the son is on his father's footsteps. Remember how Rahman touched your soul with Khwaja Mere Khwaja? His son is here to weave the same magic. The song composed of traditional Arabic verses is innocently sung by Ameen.

Malargal Kaettaen sung by legendary singer Chitra is sure to melt your heart away. The song, which is touted to be a prayer to love, takes you back to traditional Carnatic music with mix of instruments like Tambura, bass orchestra and flute.

Kaara Aattakkaara is another peppy, new-age number sung by Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam, Darshana & Shashaa Tirupati. The song was promoted in the film's trailer and hence the lyrics 'Kaara Attakkaara' sounds familiar. The down-side of the song is that it is not very different from Mental Manadhil.

Sung by Shaasha Thirupathi, Naana Varugiren is another classical Carnatic song which is just as beautiful as Chithra's Malargal Kaettan. Use of mridangam, violin and keyboard stands out and adds a touch of contemporary music in the otherwise classical song.

Paranthu Sella Vaa is another brilliant composition in the album. The song begins with Shaasha's voice as if it were a slow, melody number. But, immediately after that Karthik joins in and the song turns into a peppy one.
