Novak Djokovic's 'female companion': Twitter goes nuts after Brit tabloid fails to recognise Deepika Padukone

Indian actress Deepika Padukone was spotted exiting from a club here along with tennis star Novak Djokovic. The 30-year-old daughter of Badminton player Prakash Padukone, who is shooting her debut Hollywood outing "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" in LA for quite sometime, met the tennis ace in the dark evening hours of March 8. British tabloid Daily Mail, which broke the story, however, called her a "female companion" of the tennis star.

The online site faced flak from fans for not doing their homework and failing to recognise the popular Indian star. Deepika, who is a self-confessed fan of Djokovic's staunch competitor Rafael Nadal, had earlier met Jelena Ristic, wife of defending champion Novak Djokovic on July 10 last year when the Serbian top seed reached his fourth Wimbledon final.
