"Tamil cinema has seen its share of memorable psycho-thrillers, but the soon-to-be-released Nadunisi Naaygal is something you need to watch out for,” vouches lead actor Veera. The movie, directed by Gautham Menon, also stars Sameera Reddy and is all set to hit the screens next week.

The actor, who waited for over six years for a debut like this, is obviously excited about it. Unmindful of the fact that his debut film will see him playing the role of an angry young psychopath, Veera seems quite chilled out when he explains, “So, what if I am playing a psycho in my debut? I am more than excited to be a part of a good film. Considering the fact that Gautham is directing it, I can’t ask for more,” he gushes.

So, how much preparation went into his role? “My character as a psychopath has a specific disorder. In order to get a basic idea, I met a psychiatrist called Rangarajan in Chennai, who educated me about some of their mannerisms and behavioural patterns.”

However, the actor gives all the credit to the director for extracting the best in him. “Though I had a basic idea, it was Gautham who got me into the skin of the character. He would enact the scenes, and I just had to imitate him,” he says.

The actor has worked with Gautham as his assistant director for a couple films, He says, “I am lucky to have worked with someone like him as he has been a wonderful influence. This film, however, will showcase Gautham as one of the finest screenplay writers the industry has ever seen.”
