NOT Deepika Padukone but Shraddha Kapoor to play Saina Nehwal in biopic!

The era of biopics is going on. After Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom, MS Dhoni-The Untold Story, another addition to the list is Saina which is celebrated badminton player Saina Nehwal's biopic. 

And it will be Shraddha Kapoor who will play her on screen. Earlier, Deepika Padukone had been chosen to play the role. Because she has herself played the sport and is the daughter of a famous badminton player, Prakash Padukone, makers thought she would be able to carry off the role better than anyone else. 

But Shraddha landed with the role and she made the grand announcement. She tweeted that she considers herself very lucky to have been chosen for the film. "Her journey to the top has been fascinating & I am honored to be given this opportunity to play her in my next film SAINA". 

Both  Saina and Shraddha seem to be in awe of each other. Shraddha Kapoor tweeted,"SAINA NEHWAL - The former World no 1 badminton player. An Indian girl. An inspiration to millions. A youth icon in the truest sense"  

She also considers the role very challenging. "The preparation for this film is going to be very, very challenging. It's probably going to be my most difficult film till date," tweeted Shraddha while Saina relied to the news saying that she had information about the film but not on the casting front. 

She added that Shraddha was a very talented and hard working actress and would do complete justice to the role. Saina also said that a lot of people had told her that Shraddha resembles her. She slso said that they were really good friends. The film will be directed by Amol Gupta and produced by Bhushan Kumar and will release in 2018.
